Drake — Fire and Desire Lyrics
Dedicate, I dedicate the world
I dedicate, I dedicate
I dedicate, I dedicate
I dedicate, I dedicate
I dedicate, dedicate, dedicate
I dedicate to you
Throwin’ dirt on my old name
Only gets worse when you know things
You don’t see the perks of this whole thing
But you get real on a pill and I like it
You just like my psychic, I just wanna buy
Fulfill all your desires
Keep you in the front, never in the back
And never on the side, yeah
You a real ass woman and I like it
I don’t wanna fight it
Look, you know I’m a rider, nothin’ left to hide
Your other nigga tired
Talk about you like you’ll never leave his side
But I don’t really buy it
Me I’m movin’ quiet, all the things we’re tryin’
Let’s just keep it private
Tell me should I…
Drake puts the moves on a 17-year-old lover – which includes kissing her many times — during a concert in 2010… And he’s being criticized for his actions, which many people are calling inappropriate and creepy.
The clip is allegedly out of a show at Denver’s Ogden. It begins with Drake on point with the young enthusiast, who he begins slow-dancing with… before getting behind her and smelling her hair.
He then seems to caress her and kiss her on the neck, and says to the audience…’ Y’all going to possess me to get carried away again. I get in trouble for sh*t like this; how old are you?’.
The girls tells him she is 17, the audience erupts … to which Drake replies,’I can not go to jail, however, guy! Seventeen? How can you look like this? You thick. Look at all of this.’
But he does not stop there — he tells the girl
Video and age of consent in Colorado are 17… but that has not stopped many lovers out of skewering the rapper because of his behavior.
And, with Lifetime’s’ Surviving R. Kelly’ new on a This glorious day of days will not take long to realize that the rapper pays homage to some old-school hits on the 20-track album, sampling some ’80s and ’90s R&B classics through the album’s tracklist.
And if “I dedicate to you” refrain on “Fire & Desire” sounds a tiny bit familiar, don’t spend all day frantically racking your brain trying to remember where you’ve heard it before: Drake’s “Fire & Desire” samples Brandy’s “I Dedicate (Part II),” and it’s an important reminder of exactly how influential and iconic the singer was in the’90s.
While Drake’s “Fire & Desire” is about recognizing the importance of his woman (“you’re a real-ass lady, and I like it,” he sings), interestingly enough, Brandy’s “I Dedicate” is about her outspoken inspirations (Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder), and other men and women who’ve helped shape and influence her life, like her family (there’s a pre-Kim Kardashian Ray-J shoutout on there).
I adore the idea that Drake’s “Fire & Desire” puts forward the impression he had been influenced by Brandy (sufficient to sample her song on his album), even echoing Brandy’s “I dedicate to you” himself on the trail.
If it’s been a minute since you’ve thought of Brandy, let me remind you that this girl was IT in the’90s, with her R&B hits “Have You Ever,” and “The Lady Is Mine,” her duet with Monica, earning her critical acclaim and even a Grammy Award.
And Brandy isn’t the only R&B icon which Drake sampled on Views — according to Billboard, “Weston Road Flows” includes a sample of Mary J. Blige’s 1994 monitor “Mary’s Joint,” while the titular “Views” takes on The Winan’s “The Question Is,” out of 1984. Launched from the ’80s he is here.
Drake fell two singles, “Nice For What” and “I’m unashamed,” in advance of the June launch of his fifth studio album, Scorpion. He also unveiled the diss track “Duppy Freestyle,” a response to rapper Pusha-T’s accusation he was relying on a ghostwriter for his lyrics.
The June 29 launch of Scorpion didn’t Disappoint, as it featured the artist confirming the rumors of a toddler son on “March 14,” and his explanations of why he had been dialing back the rancor toward Pusha-T and Meek Mill on “Survival.”
The album featured contributions from Jay-Z and Future, as well as what has been reported to be previously unreleased music from Michael Jackson on the trail “Don’t Matter to Me.”
Streaming documents over its first 24 hours, with the Associated Press reporting totals of 170 million flows on Apple Music and another 132 million on Spotify. The rate continued over the upcoming few days, making Drake the first artist to top 1 billion streams in one week with his studio launch.
“God’s Plan,” which appeared on Scorpion and Scary Hours, although the win was somewhat eclipsed by the controversy of being cut off during his acceptance speech, in which he downplayed the importance of being honored at the Grammys.
For the Top 5 hit “No Guidance,” He then released the EP The Best in the World Bundle, featuring the double singles of “Omertà” and “Money in the Grave,” and the compilation album Care Bundle, consisting of previously unreleased songs from earlier in the decade.
Ahead of the projected arrival of a new album, Drake teamed With Future for the launch of “Life is Great” in January 2020 and unveiled a video that combined the paths “When To Say When” and “Chicago Freestyle” a couple of weeks after. He provided fans with another surprise launch in late March.
He shared the first pictures of his blonde, curly-haired son, Adonis, before dropping the mixtape Dark Lane Demo Tapes, featuring guests appearances from Brown, Given, Young Thug, and Playboi Carti, on May 1.
In 2019 that was late it had been declared that Drake was entering the Burgeoning cannabis industry by teaming with a prominent Canadian manufacturer, Canopy Development, to create and distribute treats in Toronto via a brand new Venture known as More Life Growth Co.
